Rajanikant Nayak, a tribal student of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) here, has cracked the competitive IIT-JEE (Advanced), results of which were declared recently.
Rajanikant, who belongs to Gond Tribe, hails from Denua village of Raruan block in Mayurbhanj district. He lost his father during his early childhood while his mother, a daily wage labourer, is the sole bread earner of the family. He has a sister, who is bed-ridden. But, these obstacles did not stop Rajanikant to achieve his goal. He had scored the highest 80 per cent mark in the +2 Science examination at the KISS this year.
Expressing happiness, KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta said, “We were making continuous efforts for last three years for success of KISS students in IIT-JEE test. Rajanikant’s success will pave way for many students of the institute to join IITs in coming years.”
