Days before the nationwide lockdown, around 30,000 students of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) here were sent back to their homes in their villages. As a result, the students had not got their textbooks for this academic year.
On Monday, KIIT and KISS founder and MP Dr Achyuta Samanta arranged for the study materials and dried food items to be provided at the students' doorsteps.
On behalf of the KISS, flattened rice, sugar, dal, biscuit, soap, textbooks and allied study materials were provided to the students of all classes of KISS. As per the instruction of Dr Samanta, the staffs and teachers of KISS have been working on this plan since last 15 days.
These materials were sent to all the KISS students in different districts of Odisha by 25 buses in the presence of Dr Samanta, secretary, KIIT and KISS RN Dash and KISS CEO Dr PK Routary.
