The 22nd annual day of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) was inaugurated here in its premises on Friday. Eminent singer and lyricist Padmashri Prafulla Kar graced the occasion. On behalf of 22,500 students, KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta felicitated Kar as he was awarded the fourth highest civilian award of the country Padmashri recently. “Though hundreds of well-wishers are congratulating me these recent days, still I can’t forget the best wishes I got from 22,500 students of KISS,” Kar maintained. Appreciating Dr Samanta’s efforts towards eradication of poverty through education, the renowned singer said Dr Samanta is doing similar jobs what Mahatma Gandhi was doing for the nation.

On the occasion Samanta called upon the students to follow the path of the great singer. KIIT and KISS president Saswati Bal and cine artist Anu Choudhury also spoke on the occasion. Delegates from South Africa, America, Nepal and Afghanistan were present.
