Kinesis is the annual fest of the KIIT School of Biotechnology, KIIT University here which would be held in its premises for two days from March 18. Every year, students enjoy this festival with great zeal, enthusiasm and lots of excitement.
Students have already organised a series of events before the festival. On Women’s Day, i.e., on March 8, Biotechnology students have organised a flash mob. A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, and then quickly disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression, said Arpita Summy, a student.
“There is a social service society called the NSS. We combined with them and performed a dance at Chintan, in university premises. Through the dance we celebrated International Women’s Day. Around 30 to 40 students performed in it,” said Arpita.
The students also organised treasure hunt and quiz competitions on March 11 and 12 at their campus.
They have already organised Suswar, debate competitions and Biz-buzz from March 14 to 16. Suswar is a singing competition, single and duet with themes, Arpita informed. “Biz-buzz is a marketing event, in which we were given products worth 500 and had to sell those items at any prize to get maximum profit,” she added.
Bio students would perform a ‘Natya Nagri’ on Friday at the parking area of the university campus. It is basically a nukkad natak in which students would perform a drama on social issues and awareness, said event coordinator Ashutosh Mohapatra. “It is basically for the cause that lacks assistance, the wrong that needs resistance. let your perception, energy and expressions speak,” he added.
The street play would portray issues of social relevance in the most creative manner and compete against each other to win this contest. The 20-minute drama would contain 15 to 20 members in each group and would be held on March 18 from 8.30 am to 11.30 am.
Besides, Blind Man’ Art, Unconventional Orchestra, Hit the Beat, Glam and Glitz, Band performance, Junkyard Wars and Taste War would also be organised, informed Ojaswita Paul, a student.
Kinesis, the annual fest of the KIIT School of Biotechnology, KIIT University has been organised every year since 2008 with the aim of connecting the dots between science, technology and culture and has given every individual a chance to learn beyond the classroom. The theme of the fest is to engage students from across departments of the KIIT University and other universities and colleges to participate in innovative and exciting events.
