Family members of the youths who are languishing in Malaysia on Thursday urged District Magistrate of Kendrapada Niranjan Nayak to take immediate steps to bring back their children.

Five labourers of Kendrapada have been leading a cursed life, after they went to Malaysia in last January 2013 in order to earn a good fortune.

One Mamata Aadak, spouse of Dillip Aadak (44) of Bagagahan village under Mahakalapada block, said the Collector that her husband Dillip’s problem in the foreign land. She also said how they are living in a jungle there without having passport with them. The company authorities have withheld their passports. As a result, they were forced to stay in jungles to hide themselves from the Malaysia police, she added.

Similarly, Asalata Sahu, wife of Annanta Sahu, told the Collector about the plight of her husband. She also said about a local agent Purnachandra Mallick who lured her husband to engage him in Malaysia-based company as an electrician. “By promising fake things, the company and the agent cheated me and my spouse,” Asalata said.

Another youth Rajkishore Parida, who is trapped in Malaysia, telephoned to the Collector on Thursday and informed the sorry plight of the Odias in the alien land. When contacted, the Collector stated that the district administration has brought the matter before the labour department to take steps immediately for the safe return of people of Kendrapada from the alien land.

“Steps are afoot to bring back labourers,” said district labour officer Hemanta Kumar Pradhan.

Meanwhile, family members of the youths from Cuttack district lodged complaints with the labour Commissioner here to take steps for safe return of their sons.
