The World Diabetes Day was observed by the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital (PBMH) here on Saturday.
On the occasion, an awareness walkathon was organised with students, faculty members and employees of the KIMS participating in the rally that began from the Magnet Square to the KIMS campus.
As chief guest, KIIT University Vice-Chancellor Prof PP Mathur said yoga, morning walk and food habits could control the life style disease in a big way. KIMS Director Dr BC Das said depending on the type and severity, diabetes can be controlled by dietary measures, weight loss, oral medication or injected or inhaled insulin. Hence, early medical check-up and precautions could cure the disease.
The rally aimed at raising awareness on diabetes, its prevention and complications and the care that people needed, said KIMS CEO Dr RN Samanta.
