The Medical Council of India (MCI) has accorded permanent recognition to the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), a constituent of the KIIT University here.
The KIMS has been offering MBBS course from 2007. A medical college becomes eligible for permanent recognition after completion of five years as per the MCI rules and guidelines.
The Medical Council of India (MCI) had recommended permanent recognition to the KIMS to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the last week of February after inspection by a high-level MCI team. The Ministry granted the permanent recognition acting on the recommendations. A notification to this effect was issued on Friday.
The permanent recognition would provide a boost to the standing of this premier medical college of the country. This achievement of the KIMS has resulted in jubilation among its students and their guardians
