Dr Anupam Jena, Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) has received the ‘Best Clinical Case’ from the Korea Heart Rhythm Society (KHRS) for successfully operating a rare cardiac arrest case.

Dr Jena received the award at the 11th Annual Scientific Session of  KHRS in the presence of its President Choong Hwan Kwak and trustee’s board Chairman Yong Seog Oh.

Dr Jena and his team operated a 65-year-old man who has old anterior wall MI and was a survivor of sudden cardiac arrest, post ICD implantation. He presented with VT storm and multiple ICD shocks. Dr. Jena and his team did a successful VT ablation for him. The case was awarded the “best clinical case” considering the very complex nature of the procedure and favourable outcome for the patient. Cardiac Electrophysiology work from India rarely gets international recognition so this award is significant.

KIIT, KISS and KIMS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta congratulated Dr Jena and his team for the award.
