In a bid to empower the differently-abled and make them feel able enough, the Enactus KIIT University here joined a country-wide campaign on clubfoot by setting off sky-lanterns en masse.
A large number of flying lanterns illuminated the skyline after getting airborne during the campaign organized by the Enactus KIIT at the KIIT University in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday evening.
The noble mission was undertaken here as part of a nationwide Clubfoot Awareness Campaign organised by the Enactus St Stephen's College.
Clubfoot, also called Congenital Talipes Equinovarus (CTEV), is a congenital deformity involving one foot or both. The affected foot appears to have been rotated internally at the ankle.
"Here at Enactus, we know that every individual is capable and it is no different for the differently-abled. Getting a chance to help them is special because when you work with them, you realise the potential they have. With the Government also taking steps to empower the differently-abled, we definitely see a bright future for them," said Enactus KIIT University President Saurav Ku Sahoo.
Enactus, known before October 2012 as Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), is an international non-profit organisation working with leaders in business and higher education to mobilise university students to make a difference in their communities while developing skills to become socially responsible business leaders, organisers said.
