KIIT gets Washington Accord accreditation

Published on:

The engineering programme of the KIIT University has got accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in Tier 1 Format, recognised by the Washington Accord.

The KIIT is among only a few institutions of the country shortlisted by the NBA in the first phase for accreditation to the Washington Accord which would enable global recognition of its degrees and increase the mobility of its engineering graduates to the US and other countries for jobs.

The NBA Tier 1 accreditation was awarded on the basis of the high quality of academics in the KIIT University, transparency in governance system, performance of alumni in industries and entrepreneurship. The programmes accredited include Electronics & Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering of the Schools of Engineering.

The Washington Accord was signed in 1989 as an international agreement among bodies responsible for accrediting engineering degree programmes.

KIIT students and their parents expressed happiness that KIIT students would now get greater flexibility and have degrees recognised globally. Founder of KIIT & KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta thanked the NBA for awarding this coveted accreditation to the KIIT. As a result of this, global employment opportunities of KIIT engineering students would go up substantially, he added.
