A mega plantation drive with the slogan “Go Green; Greater Involvement” was organised by the KIIT and the KISS here on Saturday.
More than 10,000 employees of KIIT, KISS and KIMS participated in the drive and planted saplings of neem, ashoka, pistachio, pomegranate and other trees in various campuses and other areas of Bhubaneswar as a responsibility to contribute their bit in the ‘Go Green’ initiative.
The employees also planted saplings in their own house yards. During the Cyclone Fani, lakhs of trees were damaged, causing a huge loss to greenery in and around KIIT campuses.
Inaugurating the drive, KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta said natural beauty had always been an exclusive feature of KIIT and KISS until Cyclone ‘Fani’ destroyed the green cover of the two landmark institutions.
Plans have been made to plant and nurture more than the damaged tree within this year to bring back greenery to the campuses of KIIT and KISS, he said.
