The KIIT and the KISS have extended a helping hand to the saints of Mahima Gadi Ashram at Joranda in Dhenkanal district.
The two Bhubaneswar-based institutions have provided food materials, including 10 quintals of rice, a quintal pulses, a quintal flattened rice and sugar, and cash of Rs 1 lakh for meeting the expenses of the ashram for next two months.
Notably, more than 100 saints of the ashram collect 'Bhiksha' (alms) during summer for their sustenance in the monsoon. However, this summer has been challenging for them because of the Covid-19 crisis.
The saints, personally known to KIIT & KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta, had informed him about their plight. Immediately, Dr Samanta instantly made arrangements to send the food materials and other essential commodities to the ashram. On his behalf, KSFM CEO Himanshu Khatua handed over the materials and the cash to the saints at the ashram on Monday.
Dr Samanta said, “We are happy that we have been able to provide the help in our small possible way during these challenging times.”
