Kids share their woes with mediapersons at Puri

School students and children interacted with mediapersons here on Saturday and aired their difficulties encountered in schools and in houses. The interaction camp was organised by the Open learning Systems (OlS), a leading Bhubaneswar-based NGO working on child rights for more than 25 years with a project called “Children’s Alliance for Realisation of Child Rights”.

Many students narrated their woes and harassment by teachers, mismanagements and disturbances in their schools. Their complaint was noted and the concerned authorities were asked to address their problems at the earliest.

Senior mediapersons Jagannath Bastia, Madhusudan Mishra and Pappu Harichandan addressed the students while Prakash Kumar Rath, chief executive of the NGO. and Dipti Dash, the advocate officer, conducted the proceedings of the interaction camp.

Rath said the OlS has been running a special school since 1994 and implementing developmental projects for the most-marginalised sections of the society, especially vulnerable children and women. It has been implementing the project “Children’s Alliance for Realisation of Child Rights” with the support of the Bal Raksha- Bharat and the European Union in Puri district since January 2011 covering 14 villages of Nimapada block, 14 villages of Puri Sadar block and two slums of the Puri Municipality.
