The Odisha Modern Art Gallery organised a painting exhibition titled “Art Hat-2013” here on Saturday on its premises. The exhibition had around 120 paintings on display by 60 children.
Inaugurating it, actor Aakash DasNayak said all the paintings were splendid and looked, they were done by veteran painters. He advised the children to paint their dreams on canvas.
Attending function as a guest, film critic Dillip Hali said Odisha has gained popularity in paining. Psychologically, painting has a good effect on children, he added.
The exhibition was an amalgamation of various thoughts of the children. While some of the paintings depicted the environment, forest, flowers, festivals of Odisha, animals and birds, the others went into fairy stories.
Using crayon colour, Adyasha Rout portrayed a princes’ picture. As I love nature, my painting depicts the scenery, said Sreyashri Rath, another child painter. Art teacher Madhumita Barik said children are capturing themes very quickly and are also giving beautiful expression to their ideas in the canvas of their paintings.
“In my perception drawing is an introvert kind of thing, but, these types of exhibitions do stir up kids. In an exhibition, the children get the chance to interact with many people here and feel that they are the centre of attraction,” said Farida Sarkar, a mother of a child painter.
“The aim of the exhibition is to create interest among the children on our art, culture and tradition,” said founder of the organisation Tarakanta Parida. He also thanked the parents for giving such a platform to their children. The exhibition will continue till September 4.
