The police and fire personnel here on Thursday recovered a body of a three-year old child from an unsafe nullah.
The boy identified Bibek Indwar of Sitalpara under Uditnagar police limits was playing with another Padmanava alias Tappu Rout (5) of the same area near the nullah on Wednesday. later, both had gone missing.
locals and the kids’ family members, suspecting that the kids might have fallen into the nullah, informed the police and the Fire brigade on Thursday. Fire officials conducted their search operation inside the nullah and recovered one body. The other boy was still missing. Police seized the body and sent for post mortem. The search operation was on to trace the second kid.
The Uditnagar police lodging a case are investigating the matter. With this incident, a pall of gloom has descended in the Sitalpara slum area. It may be noted that on many earlier occasions, a number of domestic animals fell into the nullah. Five years back, a child had also drowned there.
