The World Kidney Day was observed at the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) with inauguration of a Kidney Disease Screening Clinic at the KISS on Thursday. Twenty-five thousand KISS students will get different clinical tests for early detection of kidney diseases free of cost.

Kidney disease can affect children in various ways, ranging from treatable disorders without long-term consequences to life-threatening conditions. Prevention is better than cure, so an early detection of symptoms of kidney diseases will help the patients.

A seminar was inaugurated by KIIT University VC Prof PP Mathur. All speakers gave importance on making awareness among the mass on kidney diseases. They also said many children may be at risk of kidney diseases at an early age. So, it is crucial to encourage and facilitate education, early detection and a healthy lifestyle among children.

Earlier in the morning, an awareness rally was organised from Patia to the KIMS to create awareness among common people.
