When Kajol reached Umakant’s home, she discovered that Umakanta was already married to another woman. Kajol stayed with her bigamist husband and became pregnant, but Umakanta wanted to terminate her pregnancy to which Kajol denied. This led to their separation.
When the first wife of Umakanta went to her father’s house, he once again brought Kajol to his house and made her pregnant. Umakanta later asked Kajol to terminate her pregnancy. On being denied, Umakanta assaulted her and the premature baby died in the womb.
