A two-year-old girl, Payal, went missing in the power channel at Burla when her parents brought her there for bathing. However, the presence of mind and courage of a teenager Hemsagar Suna (17) of Burla miraculously saved the lives of her parents and sister.

Dileswar Nayak, a resident of Burla working as a driver of a private vehicle, had gone with his entire family consisting of wife and two daughters for bathing in the power channel near the siphon. But the channel’s strong current carried them away. Suna jumped into the water and saved Puja (10) and Dileswar and his wife Padmini. But Payal could not be traced.

Immediately, other people rushed in and brought the three rescued ersons to hospital and their condition became stable. Even if caution notices are there at this particular point warning people against taking bath in the power channel and near the siphon, some people are still frequenting there and inviting danger.
