Balangir MP Kalikesh Narayn Singh Deo formally inaugurated the beginning of the Khurda-Balangir railway line work from Punintala village in Balangir district on Saturday.
The work for the stretch from Punitala had begun in December 2015.
The Rs170-crore railway line project is the dream project of people of Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Phulbani and Nayagarh districts. The State Government has provided land free of cost for this line, said Singh Deo on the occasion.
The MP too visited the proposed Government medical college site and reviewed the progress of work there.
“Medical construction work is going on at a faster speed. We hope the medical college work would be completed before the deadline 2017,” said Singh Deo.
