All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) vice-president Dr Rama Chandra Khuntia met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Monday and presented her a souvenir of the State-level conclave of the INTUC, Odisha branch.
He thanked Gandhi for her introducing MGNREGS and Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, under which four crore construction workers and 15 crore job holders are now getting benefits.
The former MP alleged that funds sanctioned under the Unorganised Workers’ Social Security Act are being misused in some BJP and the other non-Congress-ruled States. He urged Gandhi to direct the Congress leaders for protesting it in the State Assemblies, the lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
