India has made a name for progressive legislations but has a bad name for non-implementation of laws, said former MP Dr Rama Chandra Khuntia while interacting with the IIT Madras Students’ Council.
The Students Legislative Council (SLC) delegation of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras met Khuntia, Indian National Congress general secretary, as part of their annual Parliament trip.
Dr Khuntia spoke with the delegation about the current situation of migrant labour in India and abroad, various International labour laws and their implications for Indian labour, and the possible solutions for improving their life conditions.
At the end of the event, SLC Speaker Rishi Vigneshwar and Legislator from Humanities and Social Sciences Department Aldas Vani Prashamsa presented Dr Khuntia with a momento.
