The State on Sunday registered 1,437 new Covid-19 positive cases in the 30 districts and the State pool, with which the total tally mounted to 9,78,705. A total of 74,735 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 1.92 per cent.The active cases in the State stood at 15,858. Out of the new cases, 832 were from quarantine and 605 local contacts. Khordha district reported the day's highest 409 cases followed by Cuttack with 190 and Puri 146.
The districts which reported below-100 cases were Jagatsinghpur with 86, Jajpur 66, Baleswar 64, Angul and Bhadrak 47 each, Kendrapada 41, Mayurbhanj 40, Nayagarh 36, Sundargarh 29, Dhenkanal 21, Keonjhar 19, Sambalpur 15, Kandhamal 14, Subarnapur 13, Rayagada 11, Ganjam 10, Deogarh and Bargarh eight each, Malkangiri seven, Kalahandi six, Jharsuguda and Koraput five each, Balangir four, Gajapati three and Nabarangpur two.
Besides, 82 cases were reported from the State pool. Another 64 patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, with which the total death toll surged to 5,966 in the State, the Health and Family Welfare Department said. The maximum eight deaths were reported from Cuttack district followed by seven each from Puri and Sundargarh, four from Kendrapada, three each from Dhenkanal and Nayagarh, two each from Angul, Baleswar, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj and one each from Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Jajpur. However, another 1,773 patients recovered on day.
