Gram Rojagar Sevak (GRS) Bhabani Sankar Jaysingh of Khordha was arrested on charge of bribery.
Jaysingh of Begunia Gram Panchayat was caught red-handed by the Vigilance police while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from one Jagannath Moharana of Begunia for release of his final instalment towards construction of a house under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana.
Moharana was allotted with a house under PMAY in the name of his wife Subarna Moharana in the year 2016-17. In this connection, work order was issued in favour of his wife and a sum of Rs 20, 000 and Rs 70,000 were released in two installments on different dates. GRS Jaysingh was supervising the construction work of the house.
When Moharana approached Jaysingh for recommendation to release the final installment, the later demanded Rs 10,000.
Besides, Girls Education Coordinator (GEC) , Kalahandi Priyabrata Nayak was arrested in a bribery case. He was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs10,000 from Sriance Traders, Koksara proprietor Sib Kumar Gupta to recommend release of pending bill amounting to Rs 1,11,000, relating to supply of grocery items for the month of August to Bankapola Kasturba Girls School under Kalampur block and Mathura Kasturba Gandhi Vidyalaya under Junagarh block.
The trap was laid on September 5. Nayak will be forwarded to court in custody. His residential house at Purunapada, Bhabanipatna was being searched.
