Additional Tehsildar, Begunia, Khordha, Jayadev Dalai was caught red-handed by Vigilance officers for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 on Thursday.
He was accepting the bribe from Sabreswar Behera of Kendupalli village to pass an order in a mutation case in his favour. The trap was laid after complaint by Behera.
Dalai’s residential house at Baramunda, Bhubaneswar and Balabhadrapur, Bramhagiri, Puri, were searched.
In another case, Head Clerk Prafulla Kumar Mallik of office of the Block Education Officer, Shamakhunta, Mayurbhanj, was arrested by the Vigilance police on Thursday while he was demanding and accepting Rs 5,000 from complainant Tapas Kumar Katual, Assistant Teacher, Kochilaghati Project Upper Primary School to process the file for registration of PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number) of 25 assistant teachers.
Mallik had demanded Rs 10,000 from the complainant for the purpose and received Rs 5,000 as first instalment while the trap was laid.
