The Post Office of Khariar in Nuapada district became a Core Banking Solution (CBS) branch after the service was inaugurated by Kalahandi Division Superintendent of Post Offices Ramakanta Mishra on Monday.
This is the third branch in the district after Nuapada and Khariar Road having the CBS facility. The total numbers of Post Offices having CBS in the undivided Kalahandi Division became 21 after this launching.
CBS is part of the overall solution planned for the India Post, 2012 project. It is a networking of branches, which enables customers to operate their accounts and avail banking services from any Post Office on the CBS network regardless of where they maintain their accounts.
“In CBS, the customers would be able to conduct transactions of their accounts from any other Post Office which is also covered under the system,” said Mishra after inaugurating the facility in the presence of System Administrators of division office Abaniranjan Mishra and Sanjaya Panigrahi, Post Master Alakhram Chandrakar and Postal Assistant of Khariar Post Office Arati Prusti.
Mishra added that the advantage of the CBS at Post Offices is their wide reach compared to the banks.
