Some of the unsung heroes, who have been working day in and day out to take care of the stranded migrant workers living in quarantine in Khariar town are the staff members of the Khariar NAC.
In addition to their regular work, they have been working tirelessly to see that the people living in quarantine centres get the required facilities provided by the Government in time and do not feel neglected or be psychologically depressed.
Devchandan Rout, programme in charge of PMAY, along with Tambradhwaj Majhi, JE, Gautam Sahu, Guru Patra, BP Singh and Kantilal have formed a group to take care of the migrants. Rout sits in his office to perform all online activities of the urban housing programme and then runs to the Aahar Kendra to see whether the food preparation for the migrants are going on properly.
"We strictly follow the food menu and see that quality is maintained. The migrants are psychologically depressed; any negligence will make them more disturbed," said he.
With active support of his colleagues, he manages to supervise the housing programme, which has resumed after lockdown relaxation.
"There are 33 persons in two quarantine centres at Khariar, who have returned from outside the State. They have to be supplied sanitary kits, buckets and jugs etc. A total of 250 migrants of other States are also stranded here who are provided food every day," informed Tambradhwaj Majhi.
