The first ever cultural event for orphan children of Child Care Institutions (CCI) in Kalahandi district ‘Ghumura Talent Show’ concluded on Monday here. It was organized by the Catalyst for Social Action (CSA) and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU).
Hundreds of children live in CCIs where sometimes even basic necessities are seen as a privilege. Having spent most of their time in such institutions, these children have low self-confidence and very few social skills. The event was held at BMP Balagram premises at Uditnarayanpur in Bhawanipatna to keep the children busy even while they were not competing. Around 200 participants participated in cultural events like drawing, singing and folk dance.
Kalahandi Collector Dr Brundha D, Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Ajaya Kumar Mishra, Sub-Collector Sukanta Kumar Tripathy and Additional District Judge Sarada Prashad Nayak attended as guests on the occasion.
