A gymnasium was inaugurated at Khariar by Kalahandi MP Arka Kesari Deo on Saturday. The gym was established by the Khariar NAC this year with financial support from the MP under the MPlAD fund.
An amount of Rs 6 lakh was spent for the construction of the building and another Rs 5.50 lakh for the purchase of gym equipments. “It was a need for Khariar town as people mostly youths were demanding it since long. We are thankful to the Hon’ ble MP for his support,” said an NAC official.
A meeting was held in front of the gym after the inauguration with ZP President Puspanjali Pande and NAC Chairperson Khulana Behera sharing the dais with the MP. Mediapersons and NAC Councillors who were present during the MP’s visit requested him to allot fund for beautification of a traditional water body located near the gym.
“Deo has given much importance to Nuapada district in terms of allocation of funds from his MPlAD share for various fruitful projects. Allocation of funds for this gym itself is an innovative idea,” said the youths present in the gym.
The gym will be run by the NAC initially and might later be given to contractors on tender,” said NAC officials.
