The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday started the interrogation process of security guard Dipti Ranjan Pattanayak, lone accused in the broad daylight murder of Bachansudha Pattanayak on September 11 in the city, after taking him on 5-day remand.

The police brought Pattanayak from Jharpada jail in the morning and took him to the Mancheswar police station for interrogation. The police asked him if anybody else aided and abetted the crime basing on the suspicion of the victim's family members that several others are involved in the crime, apart from the key accused. The police had requested the Bhubaneswar SDJM court to take Pattanayak on remand to get more information from him about the murder of the managing director of Madhukan Finance and subsequently the court on Tuesday had allowed the cops to take him on remand.

Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma said that the police were preparing for a psychoanalysis test of the accused to get more information regarding the crime. On Tuesday, Sharma said that the police might go for DNA test of the blood stained shirt to know whether more persons were involved in the crime or not. He also told that mobile call details of the guard would be taken as evidence.

The police would bring all witnesses, including Pattanayak's girlfriend and relatives from Nimapada, the doctor who treated him at Khurda and his friend at whose house he had left his bicycle after allegedly committing the murder.

Dr Sharma would quiz the security agencies in the city on Thursday regarding selection of candidates for the job and ask them to gather data of the guards they appoint in their agencies. The security agencies having no valid licence may face action, said the sources.
