Kerala DGP asks State cops for probe

Published on:

Kerala Director General of Police (DGP) has requested his Odiaha counterpart to probe the death of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan P Joseph.

The body of Joseph, a resident of Malappuram in Kerala and a head constable of CISF, was found rotting for a week on a railway track near Balugaon in Khordha district on February 17.

A search team of Malappuram Police Sub -Inspector Richard Varghese and civil police officer KK Udayaraj had traced Joseph’s mobile and found his decomposed body.

Joseph was presumed to have fallen off the train on February 10. The exact reason behind the death of the jawan was yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, the issue came to limelight as media in Kerala slammed Odisha police for its insensitiveness. Neither the railway authorities, nor the CISF cared to launch a search for the missing jawan in spite of the Kerala police triangulating the dead jawan’s mobile phone signals and conveying his location to them.
