Umakanta Mohanta, Forester of Saharapada under the Patna Range in Keonjhar district was arrested by Vigilance officers on Wednesday for accepting bribe of Rs 10,000.
He had demanded the bribe from Millan Kumar Mohanta of Delsarai village for not registering a case against him for his alleged purchase of a Simili tree from Chamaru Munda of the same locality. The Forester was threatening Millan to forward him to court in a forest case.
A trap was laid and the Forester was arrested after he accepted the bribe from Millan. The bribe amount was recovered from his shirt pocket.
