About 100 villagers of Gangarampur gram panchayat of Pattamundai block led by Sarpanch Puspalata Gahana on Tuesday held a fast unto death protesting the step-motherly and callous attitude of the district administration for not appointing the Executive Officer (EO) of the panchayat.
Though the locals have earlier brought the matter before the district administration, the local MlA and the RDC (central) for appointing a full-time Executive Officer (EO), but nothing happened. Though Executive Officer (EO) Durga Prasad Kar has been appointed for the panchayat but he has been working for Sanajaria and Adarpalli panchayats and has never turned up for duty at Gangarampur. As a result, there have been serious problems in implementing the Government schemes.
