The tehsildars who had threatened boycott of work as Executive Magistrates during the ongoing lakshmi Puja in Kendrapada township over police excess against Kendrapada Tehsildar Kanhu Charan Dhir, relented after the District Collector and the SP assured to take departmental action against the errant woman police officer.

Notably, some police personnel led by Inspector Annapurna Behera allegedly misbehaved and manhandled Sub Collector Dhir, who was coming from Sanamangala in his car to his resident through Keshpur bazaar after monitoring law and situation in several puja mandaps.

Though Dhir showed the Identity Card to the police personnel, but the police personnel did not let him off from the place and humiliated him publicly in the presence of SDPO Purna Chandra Pradhan.

As a result, palpable tension erupted on the spot following locals and the senior officials of the district rushed to the spot and protested the police excess.

later, the tehsildars who were engaged as Executive Magistrates in various places of the township area skipped their duty protesting the incident.

The tehsildars led by Dhir later met the Collector on Wednesday night and sought action against the errant police personnel. District Collector Debaraj Senapati and SP Nitinjit Singh assured action against the woman IIC.
