The Kendrapada Fast Track Court on Wednesday convicted one Pradip Ojha alias Huda on the charges of kidnapping a minor girl for ransom and sexually assaulting her. Huda, a resident of Dhinkia village under Abhachandrapur police station, was sentenced to life by Judge Tribikram Keshari Chinnar. The accused had abducted the 13-year-old victim from her house under the Sadar PS on May 29, 2014 and demanded a ransom of Rs 3 lakh. He had also sexually assaulted the girl, said Public Prosecutor Manoj Kumar Sahu,
An FIR was lodged against Huda by the girl’s parents. Police arrested him and rescued the girl from Khillar village under the Nimapada police station in Puri district. After verifying the evidences and hearing witnesses, the judge pronounced the judgment.
