The intellectual masses and the people of Kendrapada praised the internationally acclaimed director Nila Madhab Panda for making the Odia film Kalira Atita, based on problems of sea erosion prone residents in Satabhaya. The film is in the Oscar race.

While director Panda was visiting Satabhaya village in order to shoot the documentary film, he was surprised to see a tubewell submerged in the mid of sea.  Later, he came across a person, who was looking like a mad.

During interaction with that person, he came to know that four villages were devoured by the sea during 2006. As a result, it touched his heart and he decided to make a film, said Golekha Sethy, a resident of Mardarpur, who is an actor in the movie.

The film was shot in 2019 with a crew of 60. The 83-minute movie places the emotional trauma of a man at the centre of its story and traces the devastating effects the tragedy has on him.  It revolves around a man from the Satabhaya village which has been swallowed by the sea. Actor Pitabash Tripahty has played the role of hero in the film.

The film was shot for a month in Panchubarahi, Satabhaya, Bagapatia and Bhitarkanika areas along with cyclone affected areas of the locality. Temporary houses and latrines were set up for the shooting sets whereas solar lights were used for shooting the film, said Sethy.
