Kendrapada Sub-Collector Kanhu Charan Dhir on Friday submitted an inquiry report on allegations of misbehavior to students and irregularities by teachers of Baro-based Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) to the district Collector on Friday.

It was found in the inquiry report that most of the allegations made by the students of the JNV against their teachers and principal were true.

According to Dhir, on October 5 last, about 30 students of Plus II class of the school knocked the doors of district Collector, protesting against the torture and misbehaviour of their teachers towards them. They narrated before district Collector Debaraj Senapati and SP Nitinjeet Singh that their PET teacher Amulya Kumar Jena most often misbehaved with them and forced them to come to his house to massage his body. Besides, they complained of sub standard meal given to the students at school and non supply of uniform and other accessories over last some years. Most of the time, their parents used to face misbehaviour from the school teachers, they told, adding that even the school premises remained dirty due to the callousness of the school authority.

The aggrieved students demanded before the district Collector to conduct a thorough inquiry on their allegations and take action against the errant teachers. “The students starting from class VI to 12th standard brought to my notice that they were provided sub standard food in the school and the inquiry also revealed that the allegation in this regard was true. The students were taking meal in an unhygienic condition at the dining hall and the school authority failed to fit electric bulb at the latrine despite the persistent pleas of the students,” said Dhir. Meanwhile, Nikirai police also completed its inquiry on the allegation of PET teacher Amulya Jena injuring a 12th class student Ansuman Rout following he reached late in the playground on September 30.

When contacted, district Collector Debaraj Senapati stated that he would take action soon in the matter.
