Special Class Contractor Siba Parida was abducted by three motorbike-borne miscreants at gunpoint from his office at Kajala village of the district on Saturday.
later, he was released unharmed by the abductors in the afternoon near Manguli Chhak near Cuttack. After his release, Parida called up his family members and informed that he was on the way to home.
Parida has been executing many contracts worth Rs 50 crore at several places. The motive behind the abduction was yet to be ascertained. Though the victim’s family did not lodge any case, the Kendrapada SP, after getting information, reached the spot and started investigations.
Police formed four teams to conduct a probe into the incident and launched a manhunt to nab the unidentified abductors. Sources said prima facie it appears to be abduction for ransom by one of the criminal gangs operating in the district. Parida’s family members are tightlipped about the abduction.
