District Collector-cum-Returning Officer Ratnakar Rout on Tuesday suspended Bijay Kumar Rout, Booth level Officer (BlO) of BindhaNuagaon ME School under Tendakuda panchayat, for dereliction of duty.
According to official sources, the district Collector took the action against Rout on a report of Garadapur tehsildar that the BlO did not turn up at the polling station for verification of electoral rolls on March 9 at BindhaNuagaon ME School. Notably, the district Collector recently had directed all the officials of the district administration not to take leave or remain absent at the duty place on holidays without his prior permission and had also warned of taking drastic action against those who violated the order. About 11,200 polling personnel are going to be engaged in the general elections to be held on April 17 in the district.
