The State Government on Saturday appealed to all farmers to shift their paddy plants from the agriculture field to the threshing ground and keep them covered as the State would witness rains from Monday.
“Rain will occur in south, coastal and north parts of the State from Monday under the influence of a well-marked low pressure formed over the Andaman seas near Sri lanka. Farmers should shift their crops to safety places so that they would not be inundated in agriculture field,” Special Relief Commissioner Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra told mediapersons here.
Mohaptra said this after he called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and apprised him about possible rains in coming four to five days. The State Government has already asked all district Collectors to create awareness about the possible rains and take adequate measures at mandis to keep paddy bags safe, the SRC said.
