Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested Mayurbhanj district’s Kaptipada BEO Head Clerk Durga Charan Majhi for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2,000 from Girish Chandra Behera of Janakpur to process the paper for withdrawal of non-refundable GPF.
In his complaint, Behera had alleged that Majhi demanded Rs 2,000 to process his application for non-refundable GPF of Rs73,000.
Accordingly, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Majhi red-handed at Dakshinakali Mandir Chhaka while taking Rs2,000 from the complainant.
Majhi’s house at Raidangia under Udla block was under search, said an official release.
