The 5th Dr Kissen Kanungo Memorial lecture was organised on December 12 in the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), presided over by OUAT Vice-Chancellor, Prof Pravat Kumar Raul.
Former Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, Prof C Ramaswami gave the Memorial lecture on "Journey towards strengthening sustainability in Indian agriculture: Road blocks and transformative solutions."
Late Dr Kanungo was worthy son of former Governor of Uttar Pradesh late Nityananda Kanungo. As an eminent agricultural economist at the international and national level, he served in important positions of various organisations, notably as Dean , Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, Vice Chancellor of OUAT and first Chancellor of the Central Agricultural University, Imphal.
In the function, the welcome address was delivered by the Dean, College of Agriculture, Dr Kedar Pradhan and speaker’s introduction as well as the purpose of the memorial was given by Sarba Narayan Mishra, Professor and Head of Department of Agricultural Economics .
Vice Chancellor Professor Roul recalled the spectacular achievement of Dr Kanungo for allround development of agriculture in general and OUAT in particular.
Dr Kanungo's wife Bandana Kanungo and his son Prof Shivraj Kanungo attended the memorial.
