Kanika Andolan to feature in History syllabus

Published on:

After years of wait, the Kanika Praja Andolan of Indian freedom struggle would find a place in the History curriculum of schools.

This was promised by Union Minister of State for Home, Sports and Youth Affairs Nisith Pramanik during his recent visit to Kendrapada district. He visited the Basu-Bisuni Smruti Pitha, the birthplaces of the great leaders of historic Praja Andolan and offered floral tributes to the Sahid Smruti Stambha erected by people at Rajkanika. Basu and Bisuni embraced martyrdom on August 1, 1920 for their rebellion following Mahatma Gandhi‘s call for Noncooperation Movement.

The Minister was received near the Patarpur bridge by Kanika Sahid Smruti Sansad president Damodar Dhal and secretary Sukanta Kumar Dash.
