BIn an instance of Kangaroo justice that came to light on Wednesday, a girl was tied up and brutally assaulted in the Manchewas police station area in the capital city on Monday.
Getting information, a police team rushed to the spot and rescued the victim. The Mancheswar police took suo moto cognisance of the matter and launched a probe into the incident. A police team visited the colony and questioned a few locals.
Although the girl hasn’t lodged any complaint in this connection, police registered a case before launching the probe.
Sources said the girl had gone to the colony to meet her alleged boyfriend. However, a few women in the colony caught hold of her and brutally assaulted her in public.
The girl was then tied to a pillar of a house and beaten up again by the women. Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media. The incident has triggered resentment and locals have demanded stringent action against the accused.
