The famous Kandhamal turmeric again got the prestigious National Intellectual Property (NIP) award for the year 2021-22, which was given at New Delhi by Union Minister Piyush Goyal. But nobody was present to receive it.
The Kandhamal product got the highest vote in the farmer category and won the award.
Kandhamal district Collector Asis Iswar Patil, KASAM Secretary Sanjit Pattnaik and its Bhubaneswar branch head, retired Horticulture Deputy Director Manoj Das, Kandhamal Horticulture Deputy Director Mihir Kumar Samantray and farmers expressed their happiness over this honour while the Collector said this would inspire farmers to strive for better quality and more production.
Earlier, the Kandhamal turmeric had got GI tag. The present honour is expected to boost the demand of Kandhamal turmeric further.
