Upset over the apathy of the civic authorities and residents of the colony, the senior citizens took an initiative and organised elections to the Kanan Vihar Development Society of Patia after seven long years.
The society’s general body elected Dr GC Satpathy as its president for three years. Dr BK Bal was elected vice-president, SC Nayak secretary, KK Mishra joint secretary, GC Panigrahi treasurer ad NK Patra joint treasurer. Besides, 14 other executive body members including women and youth were elected.
The poor sanitation condition, stray dog and cattle menace, worsening law and order, poor lighting and lack of a public park and market complex are the major problems which have troubled the colony for long which the committee wants to resolve. Prof PC Singh conducted the election in a peaceful and cordial atmosphere, said president Satpathy.
