In a shocking incident, some hackers managed to hijack the website of the city-based Kamala Nehru Women’s College and linked its homepage to a porn site.
The matter came to fore on Sunday evening when the users visited the webpage searching for information regarding admission ahead of commencement of academic session this year.
The officials found a cartoon with a content ‘Hacked By Dik4h4nZ’ and ‘Security Attack!!!’ on the bottom of the homepage. When clicked on the contact, which was written just below ‘Security Attack!!!’, the site was redirected to a leading porn site showing sex video content in different languages.
The college authorities soon blocked the website.
“Action has been taken just after news on jailbreak of the website circulated on social media. I came to know about the hacking last evening and I have informed the police about it. A written complaint will be lodged at the Capital Police Station today,” said Principal Pradipta Kumar Mishra.
Mishra said a formal complaint would also be lodged with the Cyber police station.
According to reports, the website of the college is managed by a private firm. Earlier, some technical glitches had occurred with the site.
Even after the incident, the firm was again assigned for managing and maintaining the site.
It may be noted that the websites of the Utkal University and the BPUT had been hacked earlier.
