Kalpataru, Pramila choosing poll officers: BJP

The BJP ON Wednesday levelled allegations against BJD vice-president Kalpataru Das and president of the party’s women’s wing Pramila Mallick for requisitioning presiding officers who would favour the BJD in Jajpur district.

“The IAS officer-turned-chief adviser of Naveen Patnaik had asked the BJD leaders and Jajpur district Collector to give a list of presiding officers to be engaged in the constituencies of Jajpur, where the BJD candidates are not in a good position. Since Pramila Mallick is contesting from Binjharpur and Kalpatrau Das’ son is contesting from Dharmasala, they have engaged some presiding officers who will support the BJD during the elections,” alleged BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma in a Press release. He alleged that though there are rules that local Government employees will not be engaged as presiding officers and polling officers, the Government has engaged local employees in these two constituencies.
