The mortal remains of senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member Kalpataru Das were consigned to flames with full State honours at his village Bhotaka in Jajpur district on Sunday afternoon.
Das’ elder son MlA Pranab Balabantray lit funeral fire in the presence family members, relatives and many party leaders and workers.
Earlier in the day, Das’ body had arrived at the airport in Bhubaneswar from New Delhi. Then, it was taken to the BJD State office, where several party leaders and workers had his last glimpse.
later, the body was taken to Das’ residence in Bhubaneswar where Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid a wreath on it. The body was also been taken to the State Assembly where it was given a Guard of Honour.
