Residents and fans of mountaineer Kalpana Dash took out a motorcycle rally after her body arrived here from Govindpur to the Ministadium. Apart from district Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, ADM Purna Chandra Mishra, Sub-Collector Safalya Mandit Pradhan, MP Mahes Chandra Sahu, former Union Minister KP Singh Deo, former Minister Nabin Chandra Narayan Das, Dhenkanal MLA Sudhir Kumar Samal, District Sports Officer and other several organisations paid their homage to Dash.
Dash was given reception with recital of slokas from Bhagabat Geeta. With slogan of Kalpana Dash Amar Rahe, body of the brave mountaineer, who had scaled Mount Everest twice and other several mountains of the world, was taken to her house at Kanchan Bazar and her birth place at village Saria Pada.
Later, her body left for Swargadwar at Puri for cremation. Notably, when Kalpana staged dharana at Badadanda for Government job, the Dhenkanal district administration adjusted here in an under-construction private power plant LANCO, which was closed after one year or two and Kalpana lost her Job.
