The hockey complex of Kalinga Stadium here is having maximum facility to organise international hockey matches, said Hockey India CEO Elena Norman after the four member technical team visited the stadium on Wednesday.
The newly constructed stadium is having all facility but need some ground work. The city is having many good hotels and the more vital thing is that the airport and the venue connectivity are satisfactory. More over the stadium is having a good swimming pool along with gymnasium which is a better infrastructure to host international matches.
The stadium needs to have floodlight facility, press box, location of camera and camera towers. The existing dressing rooms for the players are
international standard but the VIP box and the parking area to be develop further to avail matches, said HIl director Todd Flulds.
The ground is extremely beautiful but another practices turf ground is required to host Challenger Cup and World Cup tournaments. Inside the stadium there is plenty of space which can be used as pantry, physio and medical rooms, Todd suggested.
The floodlight system and other facility can be prepared before December as the State Government is coordinating along with Idco, said Member of Parliament Dilip Tirkey. Regarding the practice field the process has been already
started if everything goes in right direction we will have the field within seven months and the international matches going to held in November 2014, added Dilip.
After the enormous success in the inaugural season of HIl, we are expecting more spectacular hockey for the fans during Hero HIl 2014. We hope that the second season will see the toughest battles among the six teams.
The second edition of the tournament will be played from 23 January with the final on 23 February 2014.
“This time we will have our own team in the league definitely our sports lover would witness league matches in this stadium,” said Vice-president Hockey India Pratap Satapathy.Among others, Vidhar Naik, Television Production unit member Gourav Bhal, VVSN Rao, stadium in-charge Kumar Panda and Idco officials were present.
